Union Pacif­ic Cor­po­ra­tion is one of America’s lead­ing trans­porta­tion com­pa­nies. Its prin­ci­pal oper­at­ing com­pa­ny, Union Pacif­ic Rail­road, is the largest rail­road in North Amer­i­ca, cov­er­ing 23 states from Cal­i­for­nia to Illi­nois. The company’s new $260 mil­lion cor­po­rate head­quar­ters build­ing in Oma­ha, NE, the Union Pacif­ic Cen­ter, is a mod­ern 19-sto­ry, 1.3 mil­lion square foot, glass exte­ri­or struc­ture. In fact, it’s the largest office build­ing in the state.

About the Solution

Lat­i­tude was select­ed to fab­ri­cate and install a com­plete inte­ri­or and exte­ri­or sig­nage solu­tion. This solu­tion includ­ed the park­ing garage, build­ing iden­ti­fi­ca­tion, retail, cafe­te­ria, train­ing cen­ter and inte­ri­or ten­ant sig­nage, and a way find­ing and graph­ics sys­tem for the head­quar­ters facil­i­ty. Lat­i­tude man­aged the imple­men­ta­tion of the pro­gram to ensure it was com­plet­ed for each floor’s move in date.

The com­plete sig­nage pro­gram was a cus­tom designed sys­tem by The Douglas|Group with input from the project archi­tects, Gensler, and con­sist­ed of high fin­ish mate­r­i­al such as brushed and pol­ished stain­less steel, oxi­dized bronze and clear glass. These select­ed design­er mate­ri­als required expert qual­i­ty con­trol dur­ing the fab­ri­ca­tion and instal­la­tion phas­es of the project. The inte­ri­or ten­ant and way find­ing solu­tion required thou­sands of work­sta­tion and office iden­ti­ty sig­nage uti­liz­ing employ­ee names. Lat­i­tude suc­cess­ful­ly man­aged these chal­lenges through care­ful plan­ning, coor­di­na­tion with client rep­re­sen­ta­tives, pro­duc­tion effi­cien­cy and a lev­el of flex­i­bil­i­ty that in the end, deliv­ered an ele­gant cus­tom sig­nage solution.
